This summer we can all make a difference by donating blood and helping people in our community! Instead of donating just to the mosquitoes in the parks we can also make sure that our neighbors have the life-saving blood they need.
Did you know that in the summer blood donations drop by about 20%? This is a huge loss for our local blood donation centers and we can each make a difference by stopping in and donating. It only takes an hour and your donation can help up to three people!
Every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs a transfusion of donated blood! I used to think that blood donations were only needed for major events and accidents. When I learned about the needs of the blood donation centers I was really amazed to learn that most blood is used for saving millions of lives each year around the world, including the lives of pregnant women and their newborn babies, people living with challenging health conditions, and cancer patients.
You can donate every 56 days or up to 6 times a year! So this summer as you are heading to the parks why not stop by and make a donation One in 7 people entering the hospital needs a blood transfusion and we can help make their lives a little better!!!
