Sentinel Campground - Kings Canyon National Park

Sentinel Campground in Kings Canyon National Park is located closest to Cedar Grove. The campground has 82 tent and RV sites including many along the river.

This campground has great shade with lots of trees making it feel pretty private.

We saw at least three ADA Campsites (11, 12 and 14) during our tour of the campground. There may be additional sites in other parts of the campground.

There are some really great sites right along the river that have amazing views and the sound of the river flowing (Sites 13, 14, 15, 16 to name a few).

    Sentinel Campground

One of the few sites we saw that we would steer away from was sites near 78. These sites were pretty close to the road and you could hear the road noise and there was not as much shade.

Each of the sites has a bear box, picnic table, and fire ring.

This is a pretty rocky campground with some downed trees in it. If you are traveling with kids that like to jump and explore you may want to make sure you have bandaids or instant ice packs with you just in case. There is a ton to explore but I now as a kid I would have been jumping all over the place and seeing what kind of adventures I could have.

    Don't forget to pack

Insect repellent is always a great idea outdoors, especially around any body of water.

We use Permethrin Spray on our clothes before our park trips.  Please read my article on preventing biting insects while enjoying the outdoors.

Sunscreen - I buy environmentally friendly sunscreen whenever possible because you inevitably pull it out at the beach.

Bring your water bottle and plenty of water with you. Plastic water bottles are not sold in the park.

Sunglasses - I always bring sunglasses with me. I personally love Goodr sunglasses because they are lightweight, durable, and have awesome National Park Designs from several National Parks like Joshua Tree, Yellowstone, Hawaii Volcanoes, Acadia, Denali, and more!

Click here to get your National Parks Edition of Goodr Sunglasses!

Binoculars/Spotting Scope - These will help spot birds and wildlife and make them easier to identify. We tend to see waterfowl in the distance, and they are always just a bit too far to identify them without binoculars.
