Warner Valley Campground - Lassen Volcanic National Park

Warner Valley Campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park, California is located near Drakesbad Guest Ranch off of a dirt road. This small campground offers camping away from the crowds of the main part of the park.

Season: 6/6/20 - 10/12/20, weather permitting

Number of Sites: 17

Location in the park:  one mile north of Warner Valley Ranger Station via a gravel road and 17 miles north of Chester. 

Campsite cost: $16

Reservations: Yes, 8 sites reservable online; 9 first-come, first-served only

Latitude/Longitude: 40.4423° N, 121.3935° W

Elevation: 5650 feet

Accessible Sites: No accessible sites

Pets Allowed:  Yes, pets must be on a 6ft leash, pets are not allowed on trails.Check here for more about pet regulations

Campground Reservations

Are campground Reservations Available? Yes, 8 sites reservable online; 9 first-come, first-served only

 Warner Valley Campground is now being operated by the park concessioner Snow Mountain, LLC. Eight of the seventeen sites are now reservable through their website lassenlodging.com.

The remaining nine campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Payphone: No, The nearest phone is at Drakesbad Guest Ranch

Is wifi available? No

Is cellular Phone Service Available? No

Is camp host available on site? Yes

Is firewood available for purchase? The closest stores are in Chester, California

 

Amenities at each campsite

Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire grate, bearproof box, and parking area. Electric and water hookups are not available, though potable water spigots are available in the campground.

Picnic Table in the site? Yes

Bear Box in site/area? No

Potable Water? Yes

 

RV Camping

RV Length: RVs and trailers not recommended

How to get to Warner Valley

The campground is located one mile north of Warner Valley Ranger Station via gravel road and 17 miles north of Chester. Not recommended for trailers.
 
The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is located approximately 47 miles from Warner Valley, at the southwest entrance to the park.
 
Loomis Museum is located approximately 76 miles from Warner Valley, at the northwest entrance to the park.

Campground Regulations

The maximum number of people in a campsite: 6

The number of cars per campsite: 2 licensed vehicles and 3 tents per camp pad

Checkout time: 12 noon

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 

Maximum Stay: limited to 14 days
