Lava Beds National Monument Camping

Indian Well Campground located in Lava Beds National Monument offers 43 sites close to the visitor center and caves. We hope this Lava Beds National Monument Camping guide helps you plan an amazing trip to this gorgeous park. 

Lava Beds National Monument Camping

Season: year-round

Number of Sites:  43 sites

Location in the park: Located 1/2 mile (0.8 km) from the visitor center and cave loop.

Campsite cost: $10 per night, per site

Holders of an Access or Senior pass receive a 50% discount on their site

Payments accepted: cash/check

Reservations: No

Campground Address: Lava Beds Campground Rd, Tulelake, CA 96134

Latitude/Longitude: 41.7176° N, 121.5038° W

Elevation: 4,625 ft

Accessible Sites: Yes

Pets Allowed:  Pets are permitted in the campground but must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet (1.8 m) Pets are not permitted in caves, trails or in buildings.

Flush Toilets: Yes

Payphone: No

Is wifi available? No

Is cellular Phone Service Available? Yes

Is camp host available on site? Yes

Is firewood available for purchase? Firewood may be available for purchase during the summer (to confirm, call the visitor center at 530-667-8113). Dead and down firewood can be collected on the nearby Modoc National Forest.

Picnic Table in the site? Yes

Bear Box in site/area? No

Potable Water? Yes

RV Camping at Lava Beds NM 

RV Length:  Small trailers and motor homes up to 30 feet. Note: not all sites can accommodate motor homes.

Dump Station: No

Generators: Generator hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Hookups: There are no electricity, water or sewer site hookups

Group Camp Site

The group site is available for a minimum fo 15 campers, and a maximum of 40.

Fees are per group per night: $3.00 per person, minimum of $45, Maximum of $60

Reservation may be made up to 3 months in advance, call (530) 667-8113

How to get to Indian Well Campground

The campground is located just past the visitor center. There are easy to follow signs within the park. 

 

Indian Well Campground Regulations

The maximum number of people in a campsite:  Maximum 8 persons per site

The number of cars per campsite: 2 vehicles or 3 motorcycles

Checkout time: 12 noon

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Maximum Stay: Maximum stay is 14 consecutive days in a 30-day period
