Juniper Campground - Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Juniper Campground is the only campground located in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

Season: year-round

Location in the park: North unit, 5 miles from Hwy 85

Campsite Cost:

May 01, 2020 - September 30, 2020 (Peak Season) $14
October 01, 2020 - April 30, 2021 (First-come, First-served Season) $7

Senior/Access Camping Fee: 50% off, This discounted rate applies to sites occupied by a person with a valid Senior or Access Pass. (Note: this does not include Interagency, TRNP, or Military Annual Pass holders.) 

Reservations: All standard campsites in Juniper are non-reservable (first come, first served).

Only the group site can be reserved.

Latitude/Longitude: 47.5945° N, 103.3369° W

Elevation: 1,935 feet

Accessible Sites: Unknown 

Pets Allowed: Dogs, cats, and other pets must be caged, on a leash (no longer than 6 feet) or otherwise under physical restraint at all times.

Dump Station: A sanitary dump station is located near the entrance to the campground.

Flush Toilets: Flush Toilets - seasonal
Vault Toilets - year-round

Payphone: Unknown

Firewood: No firewood for sale. You can find firewood in Medora, North Dakota

Is wifi available? No

Is cellular Phone Service Available? Depending on your cellular provider, you may have moderate, limited, or no cell signal.

Is camp host available on site? Unknown

 

Amenities at each campsite: 

Each campsite has a picnic table, raised grill for campfires and for cooking with wood or charcoal, and a cleared, flat area for a tent. 

Fire pit in the site? Yes

Picnic Table in the site? Yes

Bear Box in site/area? No

Potable Water? Potable Water - Seasonal

Laundry and Showers: No

RV Camping at Juniper Campground

There are no electrical, water, or greywater hookups.

The maximum vehicle length among pull-through sites varies. Many sites are quite large (over 50 ft). Usually, with this campground's low occupancy rate, campers are able to find a campsite to accommodate the length of their vehicle.

Back-in sites accommodate vehicles up to about 20 feet in length.

Parking spots for walk-to sites can only accommodate passenger vehicles (no RVs or trailers).

Generators:

Generator hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Generators must be equipped with an effective muffler.

Group Camping

Group site reservations open each year on March 1 at 8:00 am MST

Reservations for group sites are released on a 12-month rolling basis

Reservations can be made on Recreation.gov 

Toilets, drinking water and picnic tables are provided at this facility. The site can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs.

The group site can accommodate between seven and 60 people with a maximum of 20 passenger vehicles.

There are no hookups; a dump station is available for campers. All wheeled vehicles and trailers must remain on roadways or pads.

Campground Regulations

The maximum number of people in a campsite: Occupancy of any one site is limited to 1 family or 6 persons and 2 vehicles. Walk-in tent sites are limited to 1 vehicle.

The number of cars per campsite: 2

Checkout time: 12:00 Noon

Quiet Hours:

Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 

Picnic areas are closed to the public around this time as well (9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.).

The use of radios or audio devices in a manner that would disturb others is prohibited.
