    Ocracoke Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore

    Ocracoke Campground is located on Ocracoke Island part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

    Ocracoke Campground is only accessible by ferry or aircraft.

    The park service suggests using long tent stakes because the ground is sandy in the campsites. 

    This campground is located on the ocean side of the island a short walking distance from the beach through the sand dunes. 

    Number of Sites: 136

    Location in the park: East of the village of Ocracoke, North Carolina on the island of Ocracoke. 

    Campsite Cost: $28

    Senior/Access Camping Fee: Holders of the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Senior or Access Pass, or the Golden Age or Access pass are eligible for a 50% discount on their campsite.

    $80.00 - For the America the Beautiful/National Park Pass. The pass covers entrance fees to all US National Park Sites and over 2,000 Federal Recreation Fee Sites for an entire year and covers everyone in the car for per-vehicle sites and up to 4 adults for per-person sites.

    Accessible Sites: There are accessible campsites, and movement around the campground can be done along the paved loop roads. Two of the comfort stations in the loops closest to the entrance within the campground are accessible.

    Pets Allowed: Pets must be kept on a leash less than 6 feet in length.

    The campground offers grills, flush toilets, drinking water, cold showers, and is pet-friendly.

    The soil is sandy, so tent-campers will need extra-long tent stakes.

    Flush Toilets: Yes

    Is cellular Phone Service Available? Yes

    Is a camp host available on site? Unknown

    Is firewood available for purchase? Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or another self-contained unit.

    Showers: Cold showers are available

    Potable Water? Yes

    Firepit in the site? There is a charcoal grill in each site

    Picnic Table in the site? Yes

    Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.

    There are no shaded sites.

    RV Camping at Oregon Inlet Campground

    RV Length: RVs under 40 feet are welcome at this campground. 

    Hookups: There are no RV hookups in the campground. 

    Generators:  Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 7:00 am. Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.

    Generators may not be used at campsites labeled as D Loop sites.

    How to get to Oregon Inlet Campground

    The campground is located off North Carolina Route 12, three miles east of Ocracoke Village and ten miles west of Hatteras inlet ferry terminal.

    Campground Regulations

    The maximum number of people per campsite: There is a limit of 6 persons per site

    The number of cars per campsite: Maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.

    Checkout time: 12 pm

    Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 7:00 am

    From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, camping is limited to a total of 14 days within a 30-day period.
