Rising Sun Motor Inn & Cabins - Glacier National Park

Rising Sun Motor Inn & Cabins is located on the eastern side of Glacier National Park near St. Mary Lake.  This small motor inn offers the opportunity to stay right on the Going to the Sun Road.

Rising Sun Motor Inn & Cabins

The Rising Sun offers a couple of types of Glacier National Park Lodging. You can stay in a cabin or stay in a drive-up motel room.

We stayed in a 1 queen ADA motor inn room during our stay at the hotel. One of the first things we were impressed with was how perfectly decorated this room was.

From the Red Jammer Bus headboard to the Vacation in Glacier sign on the wall. I have to admit I have never loved a recycled box as much as I did the one in our room! Whoever designed these Red Jammer garbage/recycle boxes is amazing.

I wish I could put one in my office they were that fantastic!

We ended up with an ADA Room, so some of the rooms may differ from other rooms. One thing I can say is our queen size bed was super low to the ground. It did not have a box spring under it, making it incredibly low.

The bathroom was ADA equipped with hand bars and a walk-in shower. The one warning I will give you is that the door had lower hooks for hanging things perfectly placed to smash into your arm if you close the door wrong.

My wife ended up with a bruise on her arm when she closed the door, and the hangers went straight into her arm.

If you need an ADA Accessible room I would make sure you ask for one close to the ADA parking. Our room was on the opposite side of the building. They said you could use the concrete walkway to get to the room.

The one issue is if you are in a wheelchair or use a walker you will need to ask for the hotel to move a set of Adirondack Chairs that are on the walkway. They block clear access to the hotel room.

The other warning I will tell you is there is a concrete block placed next to the path to make it easier to step up to the walkway. Unfortunately, this concrete block is not secured to anything. When we stepped on it the block almost rolled and caused us to fall off the stairs and we were worried it would roll over our ankles or feet.

Ok, one more warning. The bed in our room was not even. The head of the bed was much lower than the feet area. We ended up sleeping with our heads toward the foot of the bed so we didn't have blood rushing to our heads all night.
