Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch {Video}

The Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch is located in the John D. Rockefeller Parkway between Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.

This campground offers RV hook-ups, cabins along with showers, and a laundromat. The location is amazing for accessing both Yellowstone and Grand Teton easily.

If you are visiting both parks the Headwaters Campground is a great place for transitioning between Yellowstone Campgrounds and Grand Teton Campgrounds.

  • RV Sites:  May 16- September 30
  • Camper Cabin and Tent Sites:  June 1 – September 30

Number of Sites:  175 sites, full hook-up RV sites (20, 30, and 50 amp electricity)

Next to the Headwaters Campground is the Headwaters Lodge Cabins. 

Location in the park: Located in the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway, just south of Yellowstone National Park's south boundary and five miles north of Grand Teton National Park.

Campsite cost:

Tent Sites
  • $38.50 per night plus taxes and fees
  • $21.00 per night plus taxes and fees for Golden Age/Interagency Senior campers or Golden Access/Interagency Access campers

Reservations: Camper Cabins, RV Sites, and some Tent Sites can be reserved in advance. Reservations can be made online or by calling our Reservations Team at 307-543-2861.

Accessible Sites: Most sites are accessible to wheelchairs. Restroom facilities are accessible. One fully accessible shower is available.

Pets Allowed:  Pet friendly sites are available. Pets must be supervised at all times.

Are campground Reservations Available? Yes, Camper Cabins, RV Sites, and some Tent Sites can be reserved in advance. Reservations can be made online or by calling our Reservations Team at 307-543-2861.

Headwaters Campground Amenities

Flush Toilets: Yes, there are 22 restrooms with running water in the campground. 

Showers: Yes, Showers and coin-operated laundry services 

Laundry: Coin-operated washers and dryers are available next to the campground office. 

Payphone: Yes

Is wifi available? No

Is cellular Phone Service Available? No

Is camp host available on site? Yes

Is firewood available for purchase? Yes

Church Services: Interdenominational church services are held each Sunday at the Headwaters Amphitheater.

Firepit in the site? Yes

Picnic Table in the site? Yes

Bear Box in site/area? Yes, Bear boxes are available for most tent sites.

Potable Water? Yes

RV Camping at Headwaters Campground

RV sites allow for one RV (tow included) only and do not permit tents.

RV Length:  45 ft max

Dump Station: No

Generators: Generators can be used from 8 am - 8 pm.

Hookups: Site hookups include water, sewer, and 20/30/50 amp electricity.

Cable, wifi, and cell phone service are not available in the Headwaters

How to get to Headwaters Campground

Heading north from Jackson on US 26/89/191, turn left (west) at Moran Junction. Continue north on US 89/191/287 22 miles to Flagg Ranch. Turn left (west) and follow the signs.

Heading south from Yellowstone on US 89/191/287, continue two miles south. Turn right (west) at Flagg Ranch and follow the signs.

2020 Season Dates
  • RV Sites:  May 14- September 29
  • Camper Cabin and Tent Sites:  June 1 – September 29

Headwaters Campground Campground Regulations

The maximum number of people in a campsite:  Maximum 6 persons per site

The number of cars per campsite: Tent sites allow for up to two tents and two vehicles. RV sites allow for one RV (tow included) only. (For reference, 2 motorcycles = 1 vehicle)

Check-in Time: Check-in is 2 PM and after

Checkout time: 11 AM.

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Maximum Stay: 14 nights and the maximum cumulative stay between all park campgrounds is 30 nights.
