Baker Creek Campground - Great Basin National Park

Baker Creek Campground - Great Basin National Park

Season: open from Memorial Day to Labor Day (weather permitting)

Number of Sites: 37

Location in the park:  2.9 miles down the main road in the park. 

Campsite Cost: $20 

Senior/Access Camping Fee: $10 

Park Entrance Fee: $0.00, There is no entrance fee to visit the park. 

Planning a National Park vacation? America the Beautiful/National Park Pass covers entrance fees for an entire year to all US National Park Sites and over 2,000 Federal Recreation Fee Sites.

The park pass covers everyone in the car for per vehicle sites and for up to 4 adults for per-person sites.

Buy on REI.com and REI will donate 10% of pass proceeds to the National Forest Foundation, National Park Foundation and the U.S. Endowment for Forestry & Communities.

Payments accepted: No checks permitted

Reservations: No, All sites are available, when the campground is open (seasons permitting), on a first-come-first-served basis.

Latitude/Longitude: 38° 59' 8.6280" N 114° 14' 35.9160" W

Accessible Sites: ADA accessible campsite is Site #4, #21, and #28. Restrooms are ADA accessible.

Pets Allowed: Pets must be kept on a leash (6 feet or less in length) and/or under physical control at all times. Pets are not allowed on trails. Leaving a pet unattended and tied to an object is prohibited.

Are campground Reservations Available? No

First Come, First Served? Yes, All sites are available, when the campground is open (seasons permitting), on a first-come-first-served basis.

Campground Amenities

Each site offers a picnic table and fire ring, along with potable water and pit toilets nearby

Dump Station: Located near the visitor center

Bear Boxes: No

Flush Toilets: Vault Toilets

Payphone: No

Firewood: Fires may only be built in provided metal fire rings. Fires must be extinguished when not attended. Only dead wood on the ground may be collected for use as fuel for campfires within the park.

Is wifi available? No

Is cellular Phone Service Available? No

Is camp host available on site? Yes

Is firewood available for purchase? No

Fire pit in the site? Yes

Picnic Table in the site? Yes

Bear Box in site/area? No

Potable Water? Water is available seasonally 

RV Camping at Lower Lehman Campground

RV Length: RVs and Trailers allowed on Lower Loop. RVs and Trailers over 24 feet are not allowed on Upper Loop.

Generators:  8 am and 8 pm

How to get to Campground

On Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive, 2.5 miles from the Lehman Caves Visitor Center.

Campground Regulations

The maximum number of people in a campsite: 8

The number of cars per campsite: No more than two vehicles, three tents, one RV

Checkout time: 12 pm (noon)

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours, including generators, are from 8 pm to 8 am

The maximum continuous stay at any campsite is 14 days.

The majority of lodging for Great Basin NP can be found in Ely, Nevada about an hour from the park.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ely  - We stayed in this hotel during our last visit to the park and it was great. Free continental breakfast, a free manager's reception, and a fireplace in the lobby. For some rest and relaxation, visit the hot tub. Stay connected with free in-room Wi-Fi, and guests can find other amenities such as a gym and a 24-hour business center.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ely - Free continental breakfast, laundry facilities, and a 24-hour gym are just a few of the amenities provided at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ely, an IHG Hotel. Treat yourself to some rest and relaxation at Steam Room, the onsite spa. In addition to a 24-hour business center and a steam room, guests can connect to free in-room Wi-Fi.

Hotel Nevada - We stayed in this historic casino hotel during one of our trips to the park. It is definitely a historic hotel.
